Origin and history

The Andräviertel district was built during the Wilhelminian period on the site of the demolished right-bank bastions and barracks. It takes its name from St Andrew’s Church, which was built between 1892 and 1898 and continues to dominate the district architecturally to this day. Since 1997, the Andrä district has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site ‘Salzburg Old Town’, thereby underlining its exceptional cultural and historical value.
